Dear mosaic artists and -friends,

I am happy to announce that the French mosaic artist Françoise Moulet is coming to my studio in Berkenwoude (the Netherlands) for a portrait workshop.

A 5 day (40 hours) intensive workshop in which Françoise will teach us how to approach portraying in mosaic in a Contemporary style

She will explain how she sets up her portraits

-          From black and white photos (desaturated images)

-          Using some basic computer enhancements (filters, contrast, levels, blur etc)

-          Excerpting and accentuating the main lines of the face features

All this within some new and unusual color scheme (elaborating a color palette with the color wheel/ chroma disk)

It’s better to work on a (first) portrait that is not too personal. It's already quite hard work to focus on the technique without the challenge of a personal work and the pressure you will definitively feel when you make a portrait of a close person. Also it's important to work on photo with a very good light quality and definition. That’s why Françoise will provide us with a selection of portraits to choose from. If you really, really (!) want to do your own, it can be discussed beforehand.

 

We will work with stained glass.

Size of the work will be 25 x 25 cm.

 

The workshop will be in English (and French if you wish)

Workshop Date:  July 1-5, 2022

Workshop fee: € 585,00

• A deposit of € 125,00 is required by registration if you want to secure your spot. 

• The balance is due June 1, 2022
   

All fees are fully refundable (minus transfer fees) until February 1, 2022. After that, they are only refundable if your reservation can be filled. If we do not reach the minimum required participants, we may cancel the workshop and the deposit will be fully refunded (minus transfer fees).  I will send you payment details after you signed up for the workshop.

 

Workshop fee includes:

• 5 day workshop. Class starts at 9.30 and ends at 17.30

• All the materials like board, glue, glass, designs etc.

• Coffee, tea, juice and snacks in class

• 5x lunch in the studio

 

You only have to bring your tools like: Wheeled nippers, glass cutter, pliers, tweezers and of course a good mood 😊

Maximum participants 10

There will be only 1 workshop and we have limited places. The first 8 people who will make the deposit payment will guaranty their place.

 

Françoise will be awarding each person who attends this workshop with a hand signed Certificate to commemorate the occasion.

 

Accommodation:

There are several, not too expensive, B&B’s in the area. I’ll be happy to help you to find one.
